…my dear friend, artist, and warrior in the fight against ovarian cancer relinquished her earthly armor Thursday, January 30, 2014 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Debbie had battled for 9 years to live her life to the fullest despite the many treatments she endured all the while encouraging others, spreading awareness of the disease, and smiling. She was a wife, mother and grandmother, avid tennis player, artist, animal lover and most of all -cheerleader – for her many friends and acquaintances. Debbie always met you with a smile and a kiss and left you with the same smile and kiss…this she did without fail regardless of how she was feeling that day….she wanted everyone to know that she loved them.
Her legacy is one of love, laughter, grace, dignity and determination. I hope you had a chance to meet her. I know she will be missed by all who had that privilege.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Deb’s memory to the Partnership for Gynecological Cancer Support -www.supportgc.org - a 501c3 she co-founded that assists others undergoing treatment for cancer.
